Review of Greed
I was hooked from the first page and it kept me on the edge of my seat until the last sentence of the last page. Victoria has expertly set the stage for a novel seeped in one woman's battle with material gain.
Greed was astonishingly brilliant. Capturing all of the elements of the deadly sin itself, Victoria's latest book was evenly-paced and engaging. It is rare that tears form in my eyes while reading, but the story between the lines was that powerful.
Each time I read a novel by Victoria, I am in awe of her skill. While Zuri is the protaganist, her greed is the antagonist. Battling her own sinful desires, she takes herself to an all too familiar juncture - the fork in one's life where one must decide if it is wise to mortgage one's future for today's desires.
Even though I figured what was going on, I reveled in how it was revealed.
I actually liked Zuri. Because of her growth throughout the story. Her character arc was perfect.
Greed offers a surreal glimpse into what happens when you think more is as always better. Zuri has been seated at a table where she must choose between the present and her Atlantean-sized dreams and fantasies.
